Street renaming at new HQ location
Auerbach, October 15, 2019 - CHERRY, the specialist for computer input devices in the office, industry, security and gaming sectors, as well as world market leader in mechanical keyboard switches, is celebrating a street renaming at its new company headquarters. The relocated CHERRY headquarters, which serves as base for the company's worldwide operations, will once more feature the "Cherrystrasse" address, while the street address of the previous location will be renamed to "Graf-Zeppelin-Strasse".
Building the new CHERRY headquarters in the Saaß industrial estate in Auerbach went off without a hitch: the groundbreaking ceremony took place in August 2018, the topping-out ceremony took place in January 2019, and with the street renaming today, the new 20,000-square-metre building is approaching completion. Upcoming product innovations and the demand for more production capacity made it necessary to build a new headquarters, as all the space at the previous address had been exhausted. The building also makes it possible to consolidate several locations at the new company headquarters. With even more production halls and production lines, especially for its world-famous MX switches, CHERRY is building on its success to date and will continue to drive growth. The international subsidiaries in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, France and the USA will continue to be controlled from Auerbach.
The festivities in the course of the street renaming are accompanied by a blessing of church representatives. As a symbolic act, the assembly of the new road sign with the inscription "Cherrystraße" took place; afterwards, the "Graf-Zeppelin-Straße" sign was handed over to representatives of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
"I am, of course, very pleased that we can continue to work in the Cherrystraße. We are honoured that the city of Auerbach has given us this opportunity. It shows recognition and appreciation for our company, which has been based in Auerbach for many years. And finally, the name also belongs to our company," says Rolf Unterberger, Managing Director of Cherry GmbH.
