Glinde, April 7th 2015 - be quiet!, the market leader in PC power supplies in Germany for nine consecutive years*, once again won this year’s coveted Red Dot Design Award. The new Silent Base 800 convinced the 40 members of the Red Dot jury. The Silent Base 800 now carries this internationally renowned seal of quality and is immortalised in the Red Dot yearbook. Last year’s awards went to the Power Zone power supply, Dark Rock 3 CPU cooler series and Pure Wings 2 fans.
“We are delighted to receive this award. It is a confirmation of the good work be quiet! has done developing the Silent Base 800. At the same time we take this as an incentive for further developments in this segment. For example, we have introduced at the CeBIT 2015 a Window version of the Silent Base 800, as well as a retrofit window kit,” said Alexandra Kogan, Marketing Manager for be quiet!. The Silent Base 800 had some fierce competition. The jury received more than 4800 applications for a Red Dot Award in 2014. This coveted award is granted to products in 31 different categories.
The Silent Base 800, introduced in November 2014, spoke to the jury because of its consistent implementation of the motto “Form Follows Function”. It offers generous space for high-end as well as absolute low-noise systems. The innovative design guarantees a whisper silent operation while delivering excellent cooling performance.
At this year’s CeBIT, be quiet! introduced their Window version of the Silent Base 800. However, be quiet! hasn’t simply fitted its case with an ordinary window, but developed a special in-house technique. In order to maintain the excellent low-noise properties of the Silent Base 800, be quiet! utilises a double-layered window made from a scratch and impact resistant polycarbonate, providing a significantly improved noise isolation due to integrated air pockets and acting as an equivalent replacement for the sound-insulated metal side panel. Alongside, be quiet! presented an optional window kit at the expo, available for purchase to owners of the regular Silent Base 800. Both the Silent Base 800 Window and the optional window kit will be available in Q2 of this year.
